| do you have any updates scheduled at the times you are having problems? are you loading the game through a forums or just EA? it could be many things like a shared router o rwireless conection? or just ask Fib,he may know the answer to your probs. | |

| the chances of a shared router or wireless of causeing high ping is fairly low , sounds like there was a program running in the back ground |

| Ping is a measurement of how long it takes to send a single from your computer to the server and back again. It is measured in milliseconds [one millionth of a second]. The further away you are the longer it takes. Any number of problems along the way can slow down your ping. An abnormally high ping problem is usually your Internet service provider. | |

| Could be a problem in the route from your place to our server. Do you know how to make a traceroute ? This way, we could check if the problem is in some of the points between you and the server.

| I will assume you dont know how. Do this. In windows click start, then run Write cmd and press enter
Then write tracert 72.51.44.153 and press enter
What I need to know is the result of that.

| Click on the left upper corner where the c: black square is. A menu of options will appear. click edit and then mark. Then with your mouse keep the left mouse pressed and select all the area you want to copy. press enter to copy or use the menu again to copy. Then paste the result.

As you can see, the milliseconds are great in the first 5 points. And I guess your isp is wavecable. Then in point 6 the milliseconds increase to 286, 289 and 299. That is the real problem and you cant do nothing about it. Maybe if you report it to your isp and give them this info they could contact noanet.net

| Wow, plb2416, that trace route is messed up. You have a typical path from the Portland area, going through Seattle to get to L.A., but that hop #6 to Olympia is terrible. I get times from Portland to India in the 350ms range... (1000ms = 1 second). You definitely need to contact your ISP.
Also, if you want a graphical version of this, try out Visual Route. The Lite version is free for home use (http://www.visualroute.com/lite.html).
