| This worked for me in a Windows 7 64 bits. You need to do it everytime you run BF2.
"start the game, press Ctrl + Alt + Del and bring up Windows task manager.
Be sure you have a checkmark on "show processes from all users".
Next you right click on BF2.exe in your task manager then select "Set Affinity" Then click off "All Processors" An select "CPU 0" only.
It seems to be caused by having multiple CPU's trying to run BF2.
Then Alt Tab back to your game."

| I made some tests and finally I found a solution. I created a file with name BF2.BAT and saved it on folder \Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2 Inside the file BF2.BAT I wrote.... start /affinity 1 BF2.exe +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 And I created a shortcut in my desktop for the BF2.BAT file and it is working. Now, everytime I click on BF2.bat I dont need to change the affinity in task manager. | |

| I haven't made that bat file, but setting bf2 to one cpu solved my crashing also. What's weird is it must be a win7 update at some point that created this problem in the first place. I ran bf2 for a long time with out crashing. | |

You should leave cpu 0 free for windows. In my case, I have 6 cores, so, I am using cpu 5 for BF2. Change the number after /affinity accordingly. 1 for cpu 0 <- which you should not use 2 for cpu 1 4 for cpu 2 8 for cpu 3 10 for cpu 4 20 for cpu 5 40 for cpu 6 80 for cpu 7

You can use cpu 0 without a problem, but cpu 0 is used by the windows for the regular operation of the operating system, so, it is better to use another free cpu not being used. | |
