| This happens every time I join a server for the first time after BF2 loads up and it doesn't matter which server.
1. Load up BF2 2. Browse for a game 3. Find a game 4. Click join
After clicking join, I get "Connection to server was lost" or something to that effect and I have to click join again and then it will connect. It will only happen on the first attempt to click join after loading BF2. I can leave that game (not reloading BF2) and join another without a problem. If I completely exit BF2 and reload the game, I get "Connection to server was lost" and have to click join again.
Anyone heard of that? | |

| Well crap!
I guess that's better than having C2D's!! Had that problem before I did the clean OS install and BF2.

| I have the same problem, also the first time I load BF2 after a reboot, it takes forever to load the game - like 5+ minutes. if I ctd or quit bf2 and restart BF2 later on, it loads quickly. | |

| I was also getting this when I tried to join a server but on the second attempt I was successful. The link Viper provided with the files has worked for me for the past 5 or so months with no issues. The only set back is that you have to add them to your pb folder everytime you start the game up(or at least in my case, maybe different for others). I have set up a batch file to do this for me each time, I guess I'm just lazy and don't want to navigate to the pb folder. | |

The game itself or connecting to account server?

The game itself or connecting to account server? The game itself, If I recall I think it is at the very end, it spends a lot of time verifying client data.

| There's alot of mixes thought on verifying client data. I've heard everything from hardware specs, internet connection, server location(from you) to punkbuster. You could try to update your punkbuster manually, not saying that it would help but it can't hurt. http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php | |

| It happens another one with me from times to times: When a round ends at the server,i´m sent to the password box to type it again, and appears another box on top of that with the message:conection with server lost. When I type the password...it tells me it´s not correct, sometimes only works at the third try. | |

| This also happens to me. It started about a month ago. Click the join, wait about 10 seconds, fails, click join again, always joins. No other weirdness though. | |

| This is a minor problem it delays connection for about five or ten seconds, not a real problem. It is not worth reformatting BF2 or screwing around with punk buster and possibly making a real problem that can prevent you from playing altogether.

Totally concur. I wouldn't want to attempt to fix something that could cause a different problem.

| Totally agree with you Doug. Like I said, I have used the files for about 5 or so months with no issues. All they are, are older pb dll files. They allow you to connect the first time and pb updates them as soon as you get in the server. They aren't hack or modded just archived, but like you said only 5-10 second delay. | |
