You guys have tried multi map rotations, but have you tried just adding one extra map ?

Wake Island and Dragon Valley

Dragon Valley is basically the same map setup as wake island but on a bigger scale, your rules would adjust very easily to Dragon, paint up a few last flag zones and your done..

Dragon has a lot of good characteristic that would stop the camping culture the TFC server has evolved into.

Mobile AA
protected Aircraft hangers,
Distance between Hangers and Carrier enough to stop circling rape

Your wake server rules seem to be encouraging prolonged camping, and I do find my self camping, camping, camping. The rules don't let china attack the carrier but the US can camp the Airfield, and that is the first thing that happens Arty and jets camping the airfield. The last flag rule protects the China team from the air but all that does is prolong the camping, We have become to good at it, we get them to the last flag and fry anything that crosses the safe zone. camp camp camp.

I think Dragon would be a nice change from camp camp camp

Just my thought.

"camping culture the TFC server has evolved into."
What is your definition of camping?
You mean like, defending a flag and winning?
I personally dislike the whole idea of not defending flags.
There are other servers out there that have all sorts of rules and maps.
China wins plenty. You can blame the players who all run to the aircraft and stand there being killed over and over. You can blame the players who when they are not winning, quit or attempt to change sides. I have seen China come back from one flag and win many many times.
You can blame the smurfs who spawn at the last flag, don't even notice it's dropping, and run off, usually taking a jeep that is being used to shoot down a chopper.
Wake island REQUIRES team play. It REQUIRES all players to play as a team, especially China. When China players don't actually play as a team, spawn as sniper when they are on the last flag and a tank is there, refuse to get in a AA gun because they will probably die.. Many times I will jump in a jeep and attempt to draw the attack chopper or jet away from my team. I know I will die, but it pulls the jets and chopper away, they waste ammo on me, they waste their bombs, have to go reload, giving China a chance to do something. Don't get in a vehicle when air power is overwhelming.  When someone is in a jet, they are not taking a flag.

Most of the =TFC= clan members or maybe all, are here because this is a 24/7 Wake Island server, and thats one of the reasons they joined this clan.
We tried in the past using other maps as an experiment and did not work.

BTW, Perfect explanation Rapid

The one thing I don't like about large maps like Dragon Valley is unless you have 40 plus players you end up with a squad or two running around capturing flags then running off to the next flag well the enemy comes from behind and just takes the undefended flags back again.
Nobody defense a flag after capturing it.
There's no strategy involved, just a bunch of players running mindlessly from flag to flag.

Thx Doug, just a thought.

I have played this map regular with less players, and it really does play out like wake, the china team sets up and defends there airfield and adjacent flags.

Definition of camping.

The US jets camp the airfield jet spawns the entire round and the commander arty's them as well,

The US team get the china team to the last flag and doesn't push for the cap out but just camps the perimeter for 250 tickets

The objective of the game is to win, not to have a high KDR, it seems when china get to the last flag the culture is to setup for the remainder of the tickets and Camp. I have seen it done so many times.

Jets camping Vehicle spawn point for the entire round

The Attacking and Defending aspect of BF2 is the only thing keeping me and others interested. And your server is the best out there for that.

You may be surprised alot of players do know how to play other maps, the TFC members would pick it up quickly.

playing Dragon with small numbers,  is just like wake the china team would setup defense at Refinery "Airfield"  and hold the key flags

I have played it alot and it does work.  It just takes One Squad and a commander Setting up and Defending Refinery 1st, Power Plant, Hill Village & Wood Yards.

PS: Doug, no strategy involved ?  Think about it, you server restricts strategy, why have you banned the most strategic player  in the game,  the commander...   ?

This is a waste of time
The server will stay as Wake Island only

" culture is to setup for the remainder of the tickets and Camp."
The only players who do that are the smurfs and those that really have no idea how to play the game.

"TFC members would pick it up quick"
Heh many TFC members we have played for so many years.... We've played every map, we actually know how to play the game outside of wake... Really. Trust me.
Anyone remember this mod for BF 1942?
http://www.moddb.com/mods/desert-combat

We don't play wake because we don't know how to play other maps...

I've played these chase people around in circles maps, I never understood the mentality there. You KNOW they just took a flag, You KNOW they are going to go to the next closest flag, but what are you supposed to do in those maps? Run to the JUST TAKEN flag, capture it. Meanwhile the other team is on the next flag, the one closest to the last one taken, and they take, it. So you run to that flag, while they run to the next. Around and around... I can't set a claymore next to a flag? I can't defend a flag? Anyway. My .023523456 cents...........
The best part of the game to me is being beat down by USA losing flags and able to crush them in the end.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about ,unless you mean not allowing commanders under 10 players which I would hardly call our server not promoting strategy lol.
The under 10 rule is their to make the game play run a little smoother.
If you have commanders and so few players it becomes very difficult for either team to get or hold flags, the commander will simply spot and artillery anything that moves and with so few players nobody gets anywhere and it becomes frustrating for players.

I have about 1800 hundred hours on other maps than Wake Island.
I know how to play dragon Valley properly, which doesn't help a lot when the rest of your team is chasing flags.

good discussion thx for allowing open discussion.

Sry Doug, the i was referring to the 10 rule for commander, it does suck when you are defending airfield and the US team are just repetitively dropping in to take the airfield flag and you cant use the commander co ordinate the defense and drop supplies.

Topic was only meant to be food for thought, a idea. Something out of the Box. You have the quality people on the server there is no reason the server cant grow.

I suggested the map because it would make your server different from others. The TFC server is very playable for the Oceania region, something its competitors lack.

The Weekend Warriors server is super successful and the only difference there is they don't allow jets to attack grounded aircraft or the attacking carrier, they still have great squad play defending and attacking games, and great Air to Air Combat.

1. No attacking uncaps period! Infantry can only board the carrier as special ops to destroy assets. If you attack anyone or go to the carrier as any other kit you will be auto kicked.

2. Jets do not attack grounded air vehicles!

3. Jets are allowed to pursue previously engaged jets to the carrier.

4. Commanders must do their job! Please join a squad and work as a team.

PS: your server is great and enjoyed by me and others, it would be better if it was more active in my time slot, that is why the topic was raised. See you on the battle field.

And they have the friendly fire OFF.
A lot of players like it this way.
We dont believe in a road runner cartoon server.
This is not a air to air combat server.

To avoid players just staying at carrier waiting for the jets and cobra, we allow infantry at carrier.
If they are not interested in capturing flags, we go there and force them to get out.

The only players pleased with this rule are those interested in flying only.

Same here

Its so much better for the US team when all 3or4 of there players are spotted at all times so they never get a flag and are bombed by arty and jets/chopper the second they get anywhere near a flag.
