Bf2 server

2 thing i would like to bring to your attention.

1. You recently tested a different server which for us Australians was a massive improvement, all pings where under 200, my ping was 185. the games where smooth rego like the best. I spoke to a few fellow OZ players and convinced them to try. Now my ping on the server is 225 and the performance drop is massive, others are finding the same even getting kicked for high ping.

I ran a global UT2004 server and did my research, San Jose is the best choice for a global server. It is where Silicon valley is, its where the biggest and best networks are placed, all the new tech goes there first.


All these businesses are running out of there for a reason.

2. the server Bots are killing the server, 6 bots on one side and 3 on the other. 8 players and you end up with 6 v 2 game

why so many bots? it just means when there are no admins they just get stuffed up and make it unplayable.

anyway bots are stuffing the team balance and are a real reason not to play that server.

just as i type the server went down again because of this issue.

Piss the bots off, you can get the team balance correct with them. Get your self a good global server and players will come, you don't need bots,

Good games and word of mouth is all the advertising your server needs, not server bots so it look full. .

The server we tested does not support BF2 anymore.
I'm not sure but I believe we are now using one of the only servers left that supports BF2 with battle recorder & in game chat.
As for the bots, they are not there to make the server look populated.
They are there because you cannot start a game with less than eight players.

We tried a new BF2 server provider
They had not support, no battle recorder option and no access to some files needed to admin a server.
In fact, they are out of business now, but the server was located in LA, the same as our actual server.

Most of the time bots are even.
But, sometimes if bots are not even could be because there are idle players on teams.
So, dont count how many bots are on each team... count how many bots and how many idle players and you will notice teams could be even.
And of course, like you said, bots could not be even if an admin is not aware about it.
But I am sure most of the time bots are even and server is populated at evenings.

cant you get it so the bots dont  unbalance ?

No
Sometimes bots lose connection and when bots connects again, they could connect to a team with only a few players and causes the unbalance.
The only way is to keep watching the server and check the bots.
But, because you are in Australia and due to the difference in time, I guess when you are trying to play no admin is active yet.

BLANCO I AM TRYING TO BE ON THE SERVER AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE TO MONITOR GAME PLAY AND ADMIN AS SUCH...AT PRESENT I AM AVERAGING AROUND 5-6 HRS GAME PLAY A DAY ..STARTING AROUND 4.AM AND STILL ON LINE MOST OF THE EVENING HERE ..BECAUSE AS PORRA STATED THE EUROPEAN PLAYERS COME ON LINE FROM 5 PM ONWARDS TILL AROUND 1 AM... AND TO BE TRUTHFULL THEY ARE THE WORST FOR BREAKING THE RULES...I KNOW IT IS PART OF OUR ADMIN DUTIES TO TYPE UP LAST FLAG RULES ETC BUT U R CONSTANTLY TYPING IT UP EVERYTIME IN THE COURSE OF THE GAME TO ADVISE PLAYERS OF LAST FLAG EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN PLAYING ON THE SERVER FOR SOME TIME NOW AND NO THE RULES..  LAST NITE THERE WAS 8 PLAYERS ON LINE WITH THE BOTS . 2 PLAYERS ON ONE SIDE AND 6 ON THE OTHER.. I TRIED WITH BF2CC TO EVEN UP THE SIDES BUT SHORTLY AFTER DOING THAT THE BOTS WERE GOING BACK TO 2 ON  ONE SIDE THE REST ON THE OTHER ... PLAYERS WERE LEAVING BECAUSE SIDES COULD'NT BE EVENED OUT ....AND THERE WERE NO IDLE PLAYERS IN THE SERVER...ONE SIDE HAD 2 PLAYERS AND THE REST WERE BOTS AND THE OTHER TEAM 6 PLAYERS AND BOTS ..AND THE TEAMS WERE EVEN ..I.E 10 V 10

This is the problem when bots disconnects and connects, but fortunately this is not what happens most of the day.

 I generally can be online only from 9PM (London time) , til 2:AM;
 I try to keep teams balanced, but no always manage to ... there's that issue of "switch team on next death"... if noone dies cos there are few enemies... teams stay unbalanced

  Unluckily for them, I am able to express myself in most major european languages, at least for the basics...lol ...
