Failed to Create Direct X device error followed by CTD

Hey guys has anyone experienced this error? "Failed to create Direct X device" I am running WIN7 Home Prem 64 bit.
This error happens on both my main PC and my laptop. I have updated video drivers on both but I still get the error.
My video cards are NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB for the desktop and NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 3GB on the laptop.
The error pops up after maybe 10 min of game play and crashes to Desktop. I get back into game and sometime it happens again fairly fast other times it will let me play for maybe 30 min.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I did not know about that problem.
What graphics resolution are you using to play ?
Did you try with a different resolution ?

I had it too. I ran dxdiag and it prompted for BF2 install disks. in summary, I did as it ask and was back up and running. I suspect it had something to do with my recent reinstall of starcraft II since it is a directx hungry app. Oh, there was another piece of software I recently upgraded, Lucid. It's a enhancing game app, video related. I uninstalled it before run dxdiag repairs. Both starcraft II and lucid are strong candidates to cause problems because of the video requirements.

I will have to see what dxdiag says. As far as screen res goes I will have to look and see what it is. my desktop pc is a 17in standard screen and my laptop is a 17 in widescreen. The last game I installed is the World of Airplanes (Closed Beta).
