Rapid and Rabbit: here is that link to that book i mentioned, Alone Across Alaska. He is dropped off at the Canadian border , i think on the south side of the Brooks Range, and hikes to the headwaters of the Noatak. From there he rafts the Noatak to the mouth of the river. Keep a eye out for that show, very good show. Trying to get my good friend to do the hike or at least do the float on the Noatak, but its a uphill battle lol.

Spent that summer at the Cutler River and then moved upriver quite aways to another middle of nowhere and camped there for a couple of weeks. Helicopted over the Brooks Range to Oinion Portage on the Kobuk, got to climb part of Jade Mountain (fantastic hike!) and got to run in the sands of the Kobuk Sand Dunes. There is alot to see and do up here in Alaska and i hope to do more!

Ahh i got my rivers mixed up, old man Williams stayed in the sod hut on the Kelly River, with his grandson John that summer. Cutler River is way up river from Noatak and Kelly River. I was working with the Park Service back then. We had a lil camp just a mile or so upriver from the Culter. And by the way, i guess we both took a bath in the Cutler lol We walked up the river a lil ways and it was a nice hot day, so i decided to jump on in, and yea, it was pretty damn cold lol. I remember seeing a house on the Noatak in between the Kelly and Cutler, is that the cabin you was talking about? If i remember right, it even had a oil tank.
What are the odds that we find each other in a game room , what 28 years later??!! Wish i had that luck at the lotto.....

I may have to take a look at this.
