arg...video cards

so i recently blew my trusty dusty video card...BFG 7900 gs oc...(don't laugh...i know it's old) but it ran BF2 flawlessly on all high settings...

this is my problem i've ran into...i've purchased a few cards through amazon and it seems every card i get doesn't run BF2 on all high settings...it's very laggy and when i pass through explosions (such as arty, vehicles on fire, etc) it freezes up a lot...

i know it's not BF2 because i've recently reinstalled windows with a fresh copy and fresh BF2 install

so my question is...what is a good cheap video card i could purchase that will run BF2 on high settings...they don't make the 7900 gs oc's anymore and i can't find any used ones...

but also i know a lot of you recently upgraded systems to run BF3...so if anyones feeling generous and wants to send me a used video card...that would work too

I have use my "Nvidia Gforce 7900 gs" to play BF2 for about five years now.
All settings on high with no lagging.

or this one...instead of 256MB it's 512MB....but i noticed that the 256 cards are much more expensive...why is this

I have no idea why they would be more expensive (probably something more technical than anyone should care about). For your video card, Is that the connection format that you need (x16) or could you use x16 2.0, 2.1, or 3.0?

I have the same video card.
But it cost me $350 about 5 yrs ago.

dragon...my mobo is PCIe x16

and i think i'm going to get that one that you just posted dougy...512mb ram is better than 256...if anything it just won't use the full potential of the card...my old one was 256
